What an informative post! Pharmacists should absolutely be granted the designation of health care provider. They are an integral and necessary component of comprehensive health care. There are no other professionals that are equally informed and up to date with respect to medication and it’s role in the treatment continuum. This is legislation worth fighting for.
Pharmacists are the pharmaceutical experts. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard pharmacists withhold filling scripts because the medication was contraindicated based on the diagnosis or the other medications the patient was on. Pharmacists deserve the same recognition as other health care providers.
